A beautiful film in every sense. The acting is excellent, the music is well-composed, the story is compelling, and the direction and pacing are spot on. The characters are a real highlight—flawed yet distinct, each with their own quirks and motivations, whether they were good or bad within the story. They felt fully realized, and the film did a great job of showcasing their reasoning and decisions through both cinematography and writing. The writing itself is strong, adding depth to an already well-crafted narrative. Overall, it’s a visually and emotionally powerful film—beautiful yet sad. Highly recommended and a worthwhile watch for most audiences, 9.52/10

Talk about a movie ahead of it's time, but also I've never wanted to slap a child more than in this movie. A movie with content and perspectives that I'm surprised got passed the Hays Code but glad it did. While small in scope, but still with important stakes to the characters involved, and taking directional shifts at several points I was not expecting from a movie from 1961. Great movie, but I'm not sure I've ever had a movie kid piss me off more than this one.

Linear story that ends up as a convoluted narrative of lesbianism.
