The biography of Ms Satrapi is mundane yet saddening, while the story of her country is insane and maddening. _Persepolis_ is a must-see for Westerners who don't know the modern history of Iran: Once you've finished this primer, graduate into the haunting _Tehran Taboo_.

Beautiful animation and soundtrack, great story. Unfortunately I was too tired so I watched the last 30 minutes a few days later so I didn't feel as connected to the story.

This film is so slow, so boring. Persepolis is nothing but a lazy way to describe a film. The animation was awful and uninspired. I didn't stick with the story because I couldn’t understand a single scene fully..

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, and it helped explain the problem with the Iranian government to my young niece.

You don’t really see much major films making graphic novel films in graphic novel style anymore. Persepolis is more about the author experience affected by the fall of the Shah of Iran and rise of Ruhollah Khomeini. Not to mention almost majority of the runtimes takes place outside of Persia so for this who think it’s a complete history of the Iranian Revolution, it’s sort of not, only film did touch upon it but shows how much Satrapi was affected by it. Voice cast is amazing in both English and French version, the Olivier Bernet score is great, the animation like mentioned before is amazing as well. Persepolis just hits a little differently given the current world situation at time of writing this.
