I remember going to the Cinema to watch this with so much anticipation of being the first new Carry On film for years back in 1992 .. and being very dissapointed. People were getting up and walking out mid way and never quite understood that! Watched this today for the first time since :... and now i understand why! I had forgotten just how bad this film was. Trying so hard to capture the style of earlier films, but it just didn't work. To the point, I think many don't consider this to be part of the official franchise (think i'm one of them! This is a stand-alone film, in the style of those that went before .. its not one of them!)

I've had this in my DVD collection for quite a while, so I decided to finally watch it at the end of a 'Carry On... ' binge and I have to say that it's not as bad as I'd heard/read it was. There's a handful of Carry On veterans in it and a plethora of today's comedy stars and other various recognisable faces from British TV (at the time). They try their best but it just doesn't work. It is slightly better than the TV show ’Carry On Laughing' though NB: My copy of it was in the 4:3 aspect ratio and not the original 1:85:1 which didn't help the experience.
