Synopsis
À sa sortie de prison, Moose Malloy engage un détective privé, Philip Marlowe, pour retrouver son amie disparue, Velma. La première piste empruntée par le détective est une impasse. L'enquête piétine et Marlowe accepte une autre mission, qui va finalement l'orienter vers une piste sérieuse pour la première…

For being a movie that stars a big-time Hollywood actor and crew, this movie is.... not good. First, Mitchum is brutal. Really, really bad. The scripted narration doesn't do him any favors, and he delivers it poorly (it doesn't help that he sounds like Rodney Dangerfield). But the bad performances don't stop there - I don't think anyone was any good (including the always-fantastic Charlottte Rampling). A few scenes with Harry Dean Stanton offered a little bit of a break from the terrible acting.
