If it's the 80s you gotta have two things, a montage and Richard Atherton playing a prick... And this movie had both! I'll forever watch this movie wherever it comes on!
An '80s classic that not only launched Val Kilmer's career but also delivers an entertaining experience. While it features typical '80s plot elements and special effects, the movie's charm and Kilmer's performance make it worth watching. Val Kilmer's portrayal showcases his undeniable talent, hinting at the successful career that would follow. His charismatic performance adds depth to the film and elevates the overall enjoyment, making it an underrated gem.
This is an effing classic, God bless Val Kilmer “ what about that time I found you naked with a bowl of Jell-O” “ you did not” “ this is true” “ OK I was hot and I was hungry”
"Real Genius" is a decent, wacky teen comedy that capitalizes on the popular 80s trend of science-centric narratives. Val Kilmer delivers a standout performance as the charmingly irreverent genius, imbuing the film with a lively energy that elevates its high jinks. While the movie cleverly mingles humor with scientific brilliance, its blend of outlandish escapades and youthful ingenuity ultimately makes it an entertaining, if somewhat forgettable, piece of 80s cinema.
A particular school for prodigies.
