One of, if not my favorite musical. Love the story and the comedic timing. The songs are incredibly catchy and well made. Good example for someone's first, early musical as it is clear how the songs work and inform the story and characters are clear in their description and motivations.
I often imagine this film having a dream ballet like in _Oklahoma!_..... it would have been epic!
The whole movie basically is an intro to the credits, the last 3 minutes. But those last minutes are so good that it’s just fine. After the movie, you’ll think: well, that was weird, in a good way. The movie has a warm, feel-good message, and that’s also nice. 8.5/10. The film *Oklahoma!* (1955) with also Shirley Jones is better—highly recommended.
Can't believe it took me so long to get around to watching this show. It was excellent. The songs are in the style of Rodgers and Hammerstein and The Sound of Music. The choreography was comparable with Singing In The Rain and An American In Paris. Don't know why this show is not as popular as The Sound of Music.
