Mère. Fille.

Semi decent coming-of-age adult style movie, following a teenage girl who is sent to live with her grandmother during the summer due to her poor behavior with her mother and stepfather. She has to learn some new rules and manners as she lives with her grandmother, and then some dark secrets come to surface that allow for a nice entertaining blossom of a fixture of a relationship between her mother and her mother and her grandmother. Good plot development in good acting. Lindsay Lohan does a phenomenal job here coming out of her childhood star skin.
Definitely not worth sitting through two hours of, even for Lindsay and Jane. It's one thing to note how Rachel was a victim of sexual abuse as a child which explains some of her behaviour, but even then some of the dialogue and humour just felt wildly inappropriate (immediately, that scene with the young boy wrestling with Rachel and her comments about it). This isn't a movie that holds up today, if it ever did. It's overly long and drawn out (I felt like I was watching this over the course of 5 hours) and the story went back and forth so many times. Not to mention, the storyline deserved a lot more sensitivity. Unless you're like me and strive to watch your favourite actors entire filmographies, miss this one.
