"Does he look dead to you, idiot?!" My very first Takeshi Kitano directed film! And I have to be honest, a great debut. Violent Cop is a gritty film with some dark humor through out. Some brutal scenes and a great opening scene setting the tone for Takeshi Kitano's own character Azuma. Violent Cop starts off real slow but it all pays off at the end. The ending is brutal and I never expected the final scene. But it fits the movie really well. Been awhile since I've sat down at home to watch a film but Violent Cop was a great choice. If you enjoy your gritty Neo-Noir movies, Violent Cop is worth checking out!
I love Takeshi Kitano’s movies, but I have to admit they become better once Joe Hisaishi is doing the music. Not a bad directorial debut though.
Takeshi Kitano's first film as a director where he starts to show his style, we liked it.
