I'd watched the Brazilian film "Birthright" just before, and found it entertaining enough. This one is undoubtedly an inspired cousin, but it pales in comparison. The intention is there, however, "Birthrite" is unnerving for all the wrong reasons. The lead characters are too flat to invest in, their relationship feels superficial and the story is confusing. Seemed more like a BYG, cautionary tale, student's thesis film than a professional release. 4/10 - for the concept and the effort.
