One of those films that speak of theatre as a therapeutic way of confronting trauma, constructed with exquisite sensitivity to reflect characters who face grief and the need to continue keeping the family together in different ways. It is beautiful in its writing, intelligent in the way it establishes parallels with the Shakespeare play that is being performed and moving in the way the actors embrace their characters and envelop them in a humanity that goes beyond the screen. It is a small story that returns to theatrical representation its condition of reflection of lives and emotions.

Sweet and small, I loved that the three protagonists really do belong to the same family - I don't think I've ever seen a whole family acting together. Maybe two (siblings, parent and kid...), but no more that than to my knowledge. The whole premise felt slightly off, tho. That whole storyline in fact: [spoiler] the double suicide, lawyers and Christine didn't add anything to the plot at any level and felt just a tool to get Dan's cathartic moment at the deposition and to have art mirroring life. But in my opinion just having the son's tragedy would have sufficed to create the emotional backbone without that element that felt kinda forced when paired with Romeo and Juliet [/spoiler].

A sweet little film. Nothing groundbreaking, but genuinely charming. I didn’t realise the cast were actually family members until I read the comments here. Maybe that explains why their on-screen bonds felt so natural, though some moments of acting did seem a bit overdone. I thought not giving the full context right away was a smart writing choice, it made the eventual realisation of what was happening hit harder and deepen the emotional impact. Overall, it’s a bit of a hidden gem that an AI (of all places) recommended to me based on my viewing history.

This is an excellent script that connect a family tragedy to Romeo & Juliet. I think I gave such a high score is because the realism of the family dynamic portray by the REAL family members; Keith Kupferer is actually married to Tara Mallen and their daughter Katherine Mallen Kupferer in real life. Everything was done so well that I actually connected with the characters, even though in my own personal life never experience their tragedy. NOW GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!
