Like being a psychiatrist: The theory is interesting but then people start telling you about their problems. An incredible cast (DiCaprio, Crowe, Mark Strong and Golshifteh Farahani (! 😍)) directed by Ridley Scott looks great on paper -- and on screen, for much of the film, anyway. Scott's directing is especially on point in this tale of a CIA agent trying to negotiate the job, the DC bosses and the Middle Eastern locals. Sadly, what starts off as an interesting and stylish look at espionage craft devolves into a rather dull case study.
Great movie, perfectly directed although plot is lagging some elements imho. Loved how satellite cameras blend in the whole photography!
Body of Lies was an enjoyable, if somewhat generic, espionage thriller. Acting was good, DiCaprio and Strong in particular, the production values were nice, and the plot was good enough. Solid movie and I got what I was expecting.
This movie has a pretty interesting spy setup, but it doesn’t always stand out from other thrillers like it. The performances are solid, but the story feels more complicated than it needs to be.
