The song is much better than the movie.
It's a soap opera with fresh-out-of-college kids, that isn't quite as effective as the Hughes films of the same era. While the cast is good and share a real chemistry, and there are some real standout exchanges, ultimately these characters are all unlikeable and kill any chance of a connection. You don't care what happens to any of them when they're all soo horrid and self-centered.
I liked it, good group of cast and deep and loved the way it ended.
The end of adolescence and the beginning of adulthood bring different choices, discoveries, frustrations, joys and sensations. The film explores this transition in an intense and sometimes polemical way, presenting imperfect and controversial characters whose actions often generate unexpected consequences, often contrary to their own interests. What was once inconsequential now turns into responsibilities that shape their lives. With a cast made up of young stars from the 80s, the film deconstructs expectations, creating an emotional chaos that reflects the changes of that phase, and the result arouses a wide range of feelings.
This film didn’t resonate with me at all. None of the characters were likable and I found myself disinterested in how their stories would play out.
