From Universal comes the mystery thriller _Horror Island_. When a sailor comes to him with a treasure map, Bill Martin comes up with the idea of turning his grandfather’s old castle into a haunted house for tourists; but when he takes his first group out there, they start getting picked off one-by-one by the mysterious Phantom. Dick Foran and Peggy Moran lead the cast and have good chemistry together. And the production team does a good job at giving the castles a classic spooky look, along with some fun traps and secret rooms, etc. However, the pacing’s a little fast (with a 1 hour runtime) and doesn’t really give the audience time to get to know the characters or for much suspense to build. Still, for what it is, _Horror Island_ is entertaining and delivers a few laughs and thrills.
