Feels like I got catfished by the cast and Apple on this one. Halfway through and I still can’t figure out what tone it’s going for. The premise sounded great, but the movie just doesn’t follow through.
This is a classic case where the execution completely fails the concept. While the premise of a Hollywood star being extorted by a mysterious video from his past is a great setup for a dark, paranoid thriller, the final product feels unpolished and tonally lost. The most distracting element is the weird use of CGI backgrounds. Instead of feeling grounded in its locations, many scenes have a flat, artificial quality that pulls you right out of the story. For a movie that should rely on atmosphere and tension, the "green screen" feel makes the stakes seem strangely hollow. It’s a frustrating watch that wastes a clever idea on poor technical choices and a narrative that never quite finds its rhythm.
Best to skip this one. I was going to stop it 30min in but watched till the end. It doesn't get better.
Seriously Keanu, I lasted 30 minutes and thought, Nah, not even funny. You are John Wick, just accept it!
Well, I agree it wasn’t the best movie, but I’m a sucker for Keanu Reeves and I still enjoyed it…
