Irina, une mère célibataire originaire d'Ukraine, vit avec son fils Igor, 13 ans, dans une petite ville tchèque. Une nuit, Igor est violemment frappé. Lorsqu'il revient à lui, le garçon affirme que ses agresseurs étaient roms. Tandis qu'un puissant mouvement de solidarité se met en place, bientôt récupéré par les politiques, Irina décèle des incohérences dans le récit de son fils…

[Göteborg FF '23] A moral tale on a fractured society in which it's argued that we are all victims but also guilty. The story takes place in a small town where acts are magnified, but it represents a dissection on manipulation and solidarity anchored in feelings of racist confrontation. It's a well-constructed film that, however, is viewed from a certain distance, perhaps because the writers always try to maintain an equidistant point of view in which they do not judge their characters. But it lacks greater depth in its approaches, which in part blurs its ability to impact the viewer.
