Inspired by the true story of a total fake.
Audacious entrepreneur or con artist? A journalist chases down the story of Anna Delvey, who convinced New York's elite she was a German heiress.

The first two episodes are slow and rather boring. But if you stick to it till EP03, i'm sure most people will love this show. Can't believe this is a true story!
Boring and lifeless. Is that stupid fake accent supposed to be German? Have they heard a German person speaking English??? Shonda Rhimes... producing garbage and brainwashing gullible white people sice, Grey's Anatomy.
Interesting show, well acted and well paced but I didn't like how Rachel was painted. No matter how much she used the story afterward to make money, she was still a victim. I felt like they were too nice toward Anna too. I get it, she's definitely interesting and someone from a low social class scamming rich people is a story a lot of us can get behind. But she also completely mistreated real people, who genuinely suffered from that. She's not some kind of Robin Hood
The only reason I'm watching this is because of Julia Garner. She is already in that realm where I'll watch anything she's in because I know she'll be amazing. But other than her this show seems rather boring one episode in.
An honest review... On the scale I rate this an 8, and I don't do that much. This wasn't a documentary, it was fictional retelling of a story which happened recently that to a lot of people who followed it, seems unrealistic. The goal of this limited series is reached l, it tells the main aspects of the story, while at the same time using dramatic license to make it more enjoyable. The cinematography is well done, the acting is decent, and the writing (despite a couple of political jokes that clearly weren't necessary) was great. My one and only complaint about Inventing Anna is the obvious jabs and mentions of social issues that weren't necessary because they added nothing to the story, at all. Which, as you can see from other reviews, is an instant turnoff for a lot of people and distracts from the story.
