How did 20th Century Europe's most liberal democracy fall into the hands of fascists? From Hitler's political scheming that turned Germany's parliament into a House of Cards, his War on Truth leading to book burning, and his scapegoating of minorities, this series explores in extraordinary detail the events leading up to the outbreak of World War II.

Absolutely amazing. If you have seen all the films, all the series and many documentaries, you still can't believe how good this docu-series is. There are 2 great things about this series. The music is excellent and the reconstructions are so well acted and done. They do not look like a cheap production. They are so natural that you feel you are watching the real thing. I wish they could have made a theatrical movie with the same actors. Hitler: The Rise of Evil (2003) maybe overlaps but it is in no way this chilling and effective.
I was looking for something to explain the history tidbits that I had in my head from years of past research and out comes this from the shadows. Perfect. Not overdramatic for TV, sticking to facts and presenting all stories from all sides.
I don't know if it is because I was more familiar with the details after the war, rather than before, but I feel a distinct drop in quality over the third season.
