Synopsis

A dark comedy following a multicultural mix of men and women deployed as Army medics to a forward operating base in Afghanistan nicknamed “The Orphanage.” Together, they endure a dangerous and Kafkaesque world that leads to self-destructive appetites, outrageous behavior, intense camaraderie and occasionally, a profound sense of purpose.

Actually a funny* show about a small group of _misfit_ American medics in Afghanistan. Too bad it got cancelled with that season ending. * Not hilarious, but there are some good moments, and some predictable and some less predictable moments.

Compared to other shows that get renewed for a second season and even season after season this deserved a second chance. It sure has its flaws and could've been done better but was very surprised to see that it already was cancelled.

A lot, or least better than most people feel. It isn't this fantastic, hidden gem kind of show, I'll admit that, but it certainly isn't as bad as a lot of people say. The pilot was rough, especially from a first-time watching perspective, just don't prematurely judge the show as a whole on that basis alone. If you're in or have been in the military, specifically as a medic, a good amount of things are probably going to grind your gears, and I think that would be mostly the case with the pilot. After that, some of those things are likely still present but not as irritating. I wouldn't go as far as to say that I like the show A LOT, but I think a lot of people were too harsh too prematurely. At the very least, if you haven't gotten around to watching it yet, reserve your judgment until after you've watched it entirely. Chances are, you'll still dislike it, you just won't hate it, like you most likely would if you acted/act prematurely based on the pilot or first couple of episodes, then quit watching. It isn't a super great show, by any means, but once you're a few episodes in where your disliking view on it is wearing off, you may find it a little fun and enjoyable. The technicalities of specific military aspects that are misinformed, simply incorrect, or whatever are not the show itself, and when you exclude them, not that you have to as they're not that big of a part in the show after the first few episodes, this is a decent show just like any other decent show.

This is better than people are giving it credit for. Very much a M.A.S.H. in Afghanistan vibe.
