Like the second season before it, the third season opener time jumps another decade. A jam packed montage reveals some of the surprising changes in this alternate timeline: - Gary Hart succeeds Ronald Reagan as the President - Nuclear fusion power becomes the dominant form of electric energy - North Korea exits from the nuclear weapons programs, focusing on the space program - Under Gorbachev, USSR's economy flourishes, leaping windfall from their space research And within _**For All Mankind**_'s lead characters, there have been some major developments: - **Ellen** is successful as a Senator from Texas, now running against Bill Clinton for the presidency - **Karen** partners with **Sam**, **Tracy**'s second and very wealthy husband to start Polaris, a space travel company - Under **Margo**'s lead, NASA is about to launch a Mars program, with the head of astronauts **Molly** mulling temperamental but more experienced **Ed** over more by-the-book and reliable **Danielle** as a mission commander. This season opener lays out its cards, a very ambitious one. The rest of the episodes is a bit pedestrian as it rehashes **Sandra Bullock**'s _**Gravity**_ meets Titanic. But what a deck of cards!
Wow, can't believe that was a season _premiere_, the most batting it out of the gate in quite some years. Alongside establishing the time jump and various characters' new positions masterfully, it has the grand stake, set-piece, and suspense of a finale/penultimate episode. Beautiful final scene, and can't wait for the rest of this season. Also, LOVE the alt-casting of _Love in the Skies_
Seriously? Who designed that ship? A thruster goes ballistic and there isn’t any way to turn it off?? Then I’d like to know if regular people can really keep dancing at 1.6g. Without noticing anything. I dunno. I like this show but scientifically speaking this episode was quite unrealistic.
Great pilot episode. Things went pretty intense quickly....got me on the edge of seat.
A spectacular season premiere. This is my favorite show for a reason. I just love the characters and the story that spans now three decades already. This season premiere could have not been more thrilling and I can‘t wait to see what the rest of the season holds in store.
