Setsuko Koda writes poetry, and her husband Kiichiro runs a love hotel. One day, she receives a phone call that he has been injured in a car accident.

Setsuko brings Kiichiro's daughter from his previous marriage to visit him in the hospital, and confronts his doctor about the truth behind his crash.

Mayumi is reported missing to the police and the media, and her father suspects Setsuko. Setsuko must decide how to proceed while keeping Mayumi safe.

After seeing off Mayumi and her mother at the station, Setsuko begins the process of tying up all the remaining loose ends in her own life story.
