This is a gentle tale about people trying to regain something. And it is a tale of battle. Rei Kiriyama had lost his family in an accident when he was young. Now he is a 17-year-old pro shogi player who is burdened with deep loneliness. Rei lives alone in an old town in Tokyo, but after becoming acquainted with three sisters, Akari, Hinata and Momo, he begins to change little by little...

Just an incredibly beautiful and emotionally powerful anime.
There were a lot of great moments that really made you go from loathing the existence of humanity to cheering on the good people of the world. But between all of these great episodes there was some strangeness and unreasonably slow pacing. The second season definitely surpassed the first one on all regards though. I’d still give this show a strong recommendation and I absolutely loved the entire Kawamoto family throughout the entire series. They were the most heartwarming bunch of characters around.
Season one the plot progresses too slowly, the character doesn't have any development, falls 200 times into the same error, says philosophical phrases and falls back into the same thing... The second season is much better, I enjoyed it mostly. The best of the show are the Kawamoto sisters, I fell in love with these characters and their development.
