While the premise of this story is cliche, and to some extent, so is the MC, all other characters have been very well written. I was surprised at how nuanced they were in terms of their motivations, goals, and personality. Especially the MC's sister and her love interest. I tend to watch a lot of fantasy anime anyway because it's a guilty pleasure, but I felt like this one was a step above the typical fantasy slop out there. It may not be out of this world amazing, but it's definitely better thought-out than it looks. The ending was a bit rushed, but I'm glad it was concluded in 1 season. On a personal level, I also like the washed out, watercolor art style that was used for the background and the color palette. It felt very fairy-tale like.
