absolute mf masterpiece holy moly
To say I liked this series would be a lie. Although I was hypnotized by it, I'd rather say I endured it. I couldn't say I liked something that made me so uncomfortable, but in the best way possible. I'm still processing the end of it, but what I can say is that this was a story about two traumatized people who enabled each other to the point they were each other's ruins. They fed off of each other's manipulative, abusive nature and toxicity, and ending this vicious cycle would mean stopping an irredeemable pleasure they felt in affecting each other. Death seemed to be the only way life would finally go on (figuratively) for both of them. Yes, it felt rushed, abrupt, but I can't say it felt incomplete. Also, hearing the title of the show Half Man be said in a dialog in it scratched an itch in my brain. *chef's kiss* Richard Gadd is one in a million. This man wrote, produced, directed and acted in the show and did it all so masterfully that he deserves recognition at the Emmy's yet again. So do Jamie Bell (my first crush when he portrayed Billy Elliot), Stuart Campbell and Mitchell Robertson. They were phenomenal in every single way. The toxicity nearly drained me as a viewer. Glad it's over; sad it's over.
