The Academy is the training center of Apolo FC, one of the best soccer clubs in the world, where boys and girls fight for a shared dream: to succeed in the first team. Adrian, captain of the boys' youth team and son of a former club legend, sees his position in the team threatened when his coach Willy discovers Jairo, recently landed from Colombia, with an innate talent. Rivals on the team and roommates, their coexistence becomes hell... and the fact that Adrian is a closeted gay won't make things any easier....

The Academy is a teen drama set in a professional soccer academy that focuses its story on the pressure to stand out, internal competition, and the personal conflicts of young players in training. Soccer acts more as an emotional backdrop than a narrative engine, prioritizing human relationships and personal dilemmas. The young cast performs adequately and convincingly conveys the ambitions, insecurities, and rivalries inherent in this environment. The veteran actors provide balance and help to sustain the overall experience. Technically, the series is functional: competent production, steady pacing, and a simple mise-en-scène that doesn't particularly stand out, but doesn't detract from it either. The main problem is that the series doesn't take risks. It relies on very recognizable tropes within the teen genre and is predictable in many of its conflicts. It's entertaining and easy to watch, but it lacks the personality to differentiate itself. In short: a decent and entertaining series, aimed at a young adult audience, that delivers without major flaws but also fails to stand out. My rating: 6/10
