After graduating from college, Ng Yun Fat joined a real estate company as sales executive. He is a smart young man always looking for opportunities to make money. His girlfriend, Fong Mei Lai, is a pretty girl with a simple mind. After overhearing a conversation between Yun Fat and a client, she decided to buy a flat so they can get married. When Yun Fat found out that one of his clients wanted a flat, he sold the one which Mei Lai bought and made some money. Mei Lai was very angry when she knew about it. Yun Fat's old-fashioned mother and tomboy sister moved to the city from Lamma Island. They sold all their properties on Lamma Island and used the money to buy a flat in the city which Yun Fat considered to be old and shabby. When he was told he has to move in he was totally stunned.

Ng Yun Fat's mother, although now living in the city, still keeps the habits of country life. One day, Yun Fat's colleagues wanted to visit his new flat and have a house-warming dinner. When they arrived, they realized that Yun Fat's mother is an old-fashioned woman still living with old traditions. They also found her cooking to be very non-hygienic. Due to these psychological effects, they all ended up with diarrhea. Yun Fat's mother, apart from being old-fashioned, is also very careful with her money. She exchanged their old colour television set for a black and white set so they wouldn't have to pay to have it repaired.
