In the year 2024, the world has collapsed. Grotesque monsters lurk amongst the ruins of Japan, while remaining people scrape together what they can to survive. Kiruko, an odd-job girl in Nakano, accepts a mysterious woman's dying wish to take a boy named Maru to a place called Heaven. Maru is convinced that there will be a boy there who looks exactly like him.

i really don't know why the votes here are so low for the series. i just finished the first episode and thought it was freakin excellent. astounding worldbuilding in the Pilot, which isn't an easy feat to accomplish. i am VERY excited to watch more and i cannot wait for next week
Just watched first season and I am waiting for second season. It was very nice anime and I love it.

I like the concept of it a lot, and I l o v e that it's not spoonfeeding anything like so many animes do, but the amount of non consentual sexual scenes in it really leave a bitter taste in my mouth. It's so utterly unnecessary, why is anime always like that
