Great! 8 seasons down and Supernatural is still going strong. I'm very happy to have found out about this series and the 9 season is a good example why: there is not a single bad episode, and although we know all the protagonist by heart by now, it does not get boring. That the angels play a (more) important part in this season (than previously) is something I like, too!

While it starts out with a lot of potential, Season 9 of _Supernatural_ ends up being pretty mediocre for the series. This season the Winchesters work to reopen the Gates of Heaven and stop the angel violence that’s spilling out on Earth; meanwhile the last Knight of Hell, Abaddon, attempts to overthrow Crowley. And while these story arcs sound exciting, they have trouble building momentum due to being broken up by multiple filler episodes that do nothing for the overall plot. Also, some of the filler episodes are quite bizarre; Dean talking to animals, Dorothy Baum fighting the Wicked Witch, and a half-assed attempt at a series spin-off involving feuding clans of supernatural creatures. Still, there are some gems in this mess, and the show continues to deliver thrilling action and clever twists. Though the ninth season of _Supernatural_ is predictable and formulaic, it does wrap up a few long standing stories...leaving an open road for the series to go down.
