A finely-acted and produced (sort-of)spin-off series based around the exploits of Fagin, The Artful Dodger (no Oliver Twist) and the gang, possibly aimed at a younger audience but still an entertaining family drama for all ages. Billy Jenkins is fab as the young Jack Dawkins, and Ellie-May Sheridan's Polly definitely rivals "Dodge" as star performer of the show, Both actors are sure to go on to have very successful acting careers if all of their performances are of this calibre. It would be unfair not to also mention Lenny Rush alongside the other two, who played only a minor role perhaps, but his character - the sly and cheeky but lovable shoe-shine-cum-informant boy "Morgan" - is nonetheless vital to the success of Fagin's Gang - and their continued freedom - on numerous occasions. Rush appears to be uncredited for this role on Trakt - he really should be in the "Guest Stars" section. Finally, it took a few episodes before I warmed to him, but Christopher Eccleston's Fagin is actually pretty decent and funny, even if the accent doesn't quite hit the mark - but that really doesn't matter as it fits the goofy vibe of this show perfectly. I would recommend watching this show in its entirety (all of the specials have been recompiled into 'Season 2') and then watching "The Artful Dodger" (2023, Thomas Brodie Sangster, David Thewlis) straight afterwards, as it is in the same vibe as "Dodger" - almost like an unofficial/accidental sequel.
