An immigrant worker in England on a forged passport picks up a radioactive isotope by mistake. Unless he's located quickly, he and anyone near him will suffer from radiation poisoning. The worker thinks the police are pursuing him because of his being an illegal alien and does his best not to be captured.

While wandering through the countryside, a young married couple discover an old abandoned cottage in which they decide to make their home. A mysterious stranger tells them of the curse which falls on all its inhabitants, but they disregard his warning.

In a post-apocalyptic future survivors take turns venturing outside their bunker to draw water and face glowing eyed mutated humans. The well gets lower and tensions higher. Myra, the child unlike the others, has a secret.
