"Attack on Titan: Season 2" manages to keep the show as fresh and entertaining as its opening seasons, even though it pretty much follows the same structure with different villains and a couple of more mysteries thrown in. It feels like the purpose of these episodes is to prepare the ground for what's coming next rather than adding something new. We are starting to stop seeing our favorite characters dying, but as the stakes involved are getting exponentially bigger, the fights are getting to epic proportions.
While it doesn’t quite reach the explosive thrill and nonstop intensity of Attack on Titan’s first season, season two takes a different but equally important direction. Instead of focusing purely on spectacle, it leans heavily into character development, shining a spotlight on side characters who had previously lingered in the background. Their arcs bring new layers of humanity and emotional weight to the story, making the world feel richer and more lived in. Eren, on the other hand, continues to cement his place as one of the most frustratingly loud and impulsive protagonists in anime. Yet, in a strange way, his flaws highlight just how compelling the supporting cast has become. Meanwhile, the lore of the series grows deeper and more intriguing with every episode, peeling back the mystery of the Titans and expanding the mythology in ways that make the story even more captivating. Season two may not deliver the same immediate rush as its predecessor, but it builds a stronger foundation, pushing the series toward something greater.
I see a lot of people saying this was not as good as the first season but i personally think it was better. It's short and leaves much to desire but i enjoyed it more. I'm still not seeing why this is described as "one of the best animes of all time" though but i do like it a lot. The animation is amazing, with some quality drops here and there that can be excused. The story once again is intriguing and they keep throwing new things and new concepts at you. The soundtrack, while incredible, is the same as the last season's which i thought was a bit lazy. Over all a great season but it's gotta be better to really win me over.
