I'm assuming this appealed to the Six Million Dollar Man fans of the era. It's the typical thing of an android virtually indistinguishable from a person, with a combination of strength, intelligence and emotional limitations, (as was so often with this kind of story), paired with an emotionally stunted partner I can imagine myself watching this 30 years ago, but so dated now.
