> Cringe-worthy I am interested in all Idol/Actor bases dramas ; so there is no way I will make a pass on this even if this was produced 2 years back and the second lead(s) are horrible characters. There is nothing new in the story but I am surprised that I enjoyed it and was eagerly expecting an episode every weekend ; the bait was working unexpectedly. The cast was excellent they made us hate each of them but the characters were terrible which makes them humane with flaws. There are thousand times I wanted to strangle JJ/In-hyung through the screen but I could only skip their scenes. The ending is kinda unrealistic ; I could neither sympathize with JJ/In-hyung nor could accept that Who Joon
was accepted back that easily by his fans no matter how good Geun-Young's manual of his was !!!
Overall its work a watch if you have enjoyed shows like Beauty Inside ,Oh! My Lady ,Find Me in Your Memory .
To be perfectly honest, this drama could have been better in many aspects. However, what made me love it anyway is great acting and wonderful chemistry between main characters, as well as the rest of the cast (can we talk about how adorable reality director and Noh Do-yoon were?) Choi Soo-young's acting was especially captivating for me, which is why her emotions and relationships felt so genuine, and I loved it. The cutesy stuff never felt like too much or annoying, which is a relief because I was expecting more cringe scenes. What I would have really loved seeing before the end, though, is someone
covering all those mean and quick-to-judge fangirls in eggs and flour, just for them to get a taste of their own medicine. I can never understand how behaviors such as these could be tolerated in any civilized state, and moreover perceived as okay 'because deserved' or 'because fans are angry / hurt'. What a bunch of self-righteous bullies those girls were.
I really liked this show overall but it could have been shorter. They changed things from the webtoon but for the most part kept it the same except the endings. The endings for all the characters were changed and so was the relationship between In-hyung and Guen-young and I think that was a shame. This was an okay enemies to lovers show but I really can't understand why Guen-young would like Who Joon so quickly. I really thought he should have tried harder because he had caused her so many issues for her especially when they were at the event and she gets attacked by the fans. He just seems not to care. The relationship between In Hyung and JJ was also a mess. Both of them were just toxic and it didn't make sense to drag on that relationship.
It's been a few months since I enjoyed a drama as much as this one. The main couple is the main reason for that. They had such good chemistry and were so sweet. I'm a sucker for the "enemies to lovers" trope, which was executed so very smoothly. I also really liked the relationship between the producers for the variety show. Joon's manager, wardrobe lady and Geoun Young's parents were very likable characters, too. The parents had a few hilarious scenes, and it was cute how Ji Hyang was their first shipper. On the negative side, the second couple was so very toxic.
Which was only made worse by the fact that they were two sides of the show's love triangle. It, perhaps, would have been better if JJ died. He was such a mean, manipulative and emotionally abusive character, and I don't think he deserved the weak attempt at a redemption arc they gave him. He was nowhere near damaged enough to justify him being that absolutely awful to other people. In Hyung was not much better. So pitiful for no apparent reason. She made her choices, picked her path and then refused to take responsibility for her own life. I don't really like "woe is me" characters who don't do anything to change their circumstances.
But, all in all, this show was extremely bingeable and so much fun! Would recommend.
