Movies like this really make me wish that I knew how to use a skateboard.
The story of how skateboarding became a thing, emanating mainly from Venice Beach, L.A. While the movie is a bit crude at times, it is generally entertaining and does manage to convey the vibe from the skater community at the time. One may like that vibe or not, the movie still feels real and is apparently also quite close to the real events of the time. A must for fans of the sport and for people interested in recent pop-culture history.
When skateboarding first emerged, not everything was cool.
A movie about the start of skateboarding. Daaamn everybody was great in this. Such a passion project. You can see it, feel it. Heath Ledger was stunning maaaan. I just loved it. Awesome work.
