An Emmanuelle movie with almost no nudity. The movie isn't bad, but I cannot get over how prudish everyone has become that this even exists.
Gorgeous to look at. Completely hollow inside. Hong Kong as a backdrop, luxury hotels, beautiful cinematography - the film has all the ingredients and none of the heat. It strips away everything the Emmanuelle name stood for and replaces it with cold, clinical detachment that feels more like a corporate presentation than an erotic drama. Merlant is capable but the film gives her nothing real to work with. She drifts from scene to scene like someone going through motions they don't believe in. Lost its sensuality without gaining any real depth. That's the worst possible trade.
What is this? A slightly sleazy film about hotel management? I much prefer the original, of course.
