He's L.A. Detective Mason Storm. Three hired assassins left him for dead. And he's waited seven years to even the score.
Mason Storm, a 'go it alone' cop, is gunned down at home. The intruders kill his wife, and think they've killed both Mason and his son too. Mason is secretly taken to a hospital where he spends several years in a coma. His son meanwhile is growing up thinking his father is dead. When Mason wakes up, everyone is in danger - himself, his son, his best friend, his nurse - but most of all those who arranged for his death

This has everything you want out of a seagal flick. Everything!
"I'm gonna take you to the bank, Senator Trent. To the blood bank!" Hard to Kill is still such an entertaining movie. You have Steven Seagal trash-talking bad guys while beating them up ever so slowly, you have him taking shotgun shots to the chest and surviving, you have Kelly LeBrock pushing Seagal out of a hospital while he's on a bed, that amazing beard, a young Hank before he joined the DEA in Albuquerque, Mason Storm is such an amazing name and well yeah the one liners. Like at one point while they are escaping the bad guys Andrea (Kelle LeBrock) is yelling; I forgot to lock the door. You just can't make this up. So yeah, even on a rewatch Hard to Kill doesn't fail to entertain me. It isn't up there with Under Siege and Marked for Death, but it is still one of his best.
I had this on a dodgy import DVD from the far East where his name was brilliantly misspelt on the cover. As a result, he will always be Steven Seagull to me. I'd forgotten how bad this film is though. I mean, everyone just seems utterly fine about the shopkeeper being killed, Storm executing a man on the street, killing multiple police officers and almost everyone not even remotely checking out Kelly Le Brock walking around in super tight outfits. Still, better than most of what is made these days.
Steven Seagal in his element. Lone wolf who is almost a saint while most people around him a bad guy who want to do him wrong. For fans of the man, this one is a classic.
remind me to never watch this crud again. Some movies don't stand the test of time when you first watch them as a young guy. a shitty re-watch indeed
