Michael Douglas is giving Indiana a run for his money.
How could you not love Kathleen in this movie
Can't honestly say it's a good movie, but it is entertaining! A romantic action-comedy that both guys and girls can enjoy. Most things are over the top (chasing-scenes, dodging bullets) and don't make much sense storywise. The romantic moments aren't awfully romantic and the comedic moments aren't laughoutloud funny, but this movie still manages to provide some mindless entertainment and put a mild smile on your face. Kind of recommended for a laidback evening with your girlfriend/boyfriend, when you don't really want to focus on the movie, but still want to be entertained. Just don't expect a particularly good movie.
For a mid-80s action romance, it works. Watching 35 years later, it's okay but nothing special. The two leads aren't tradiotnal casting and it was a good move for both Douglas and Turner to make this type of movie. I see Indiana Jones comparisons and that's ridiculous. To me this is more in keeping with Crocodile Dundee - if the Americans had made that (without the charm of Aussie Wit) then this is the film you'd get. 6/10 (Back in the day, this would have been a 7.5/10)
I remember this movie being a lot of fun in my childhood, but after rewatching it, it didn’t hold up over time. The situations are completely unrealistic - far-fetched and, in places, just ridiculous. It’s kind of okay, but nothing more than that.
