Softer, German version of "Prisoners" plot. The movie has its emotional moments that can touch you but I had a hard time rooting for the protagonist. His choices and behavior were always awful even though he has a good heart -which is kind of the point of the movie. Plus points for the performances, soundtrack and cinematography. The tone and the mood were very fitting. The weakest spot of the movie is the screenplay and I just couldn't overlook the problems in it. Though the third act was the strongest act in the movie, the third act revelation was clearly a wrong choice in my opinion. The transitions in general are lacking in the script, resulting in off-putting moments. In the same spirit, the transition for the protagonist from start to end is missing some steps; far too quick. So many options were left and unexplored; making his final choice - again - very confusing and annoying.
