The rise and fall of a power hungry mobster.
In 1920s Chicago, Italian immigrant and notorious thug, Antonio 'Tony' Camonte, aka Scarface, shoots his way to the top of the mobs while trying to protect his sister from the criminal life.

We thought it would look old and that it would be worse and it was a pleasant surprise
It certainly had a message to impart, but I prefer this to the glorification in other, later mob movies
Being more than 90 years ago the original Scarface still good. Paul Muni is great as Camonte and while less violence than De Palma one, it still pretty violent film. Still prefer Hawks’ Scarface to De Palma as its superior but remake one isn’t bad but isn’t same level as this.
An excellent gangster movie that has ever since been a reference for this kind of movie. Few did surpass it.
Ooh, really disliked this. From the excessive moralization to Paul Muni's mannered and unintelligible performance to the weird sister stuff, this held very little interest for me.
