AVOID! SSSSSSssssssssllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww. Plenty of better movies out there this is the type of pure shite that has started me re-watching movies from the past.

Tropity trope trope trope... but good.

The immoral CIA kidnaps an innocent man to a black site for interrogation and then kills him because the USA gets in bed with an African dictator and this innocent man is fighting against the dictator. Among the CIA interrogators of the innocent man are two supposedly-moral agents whom we are supposed to believe are the good guys --- but if they were truly moral and good, why are they interrogating _anyone_ at a _black_ site at all? One of those supposedly-moral agents is killed by a mole controlled by a close-to-the-top CIA handler after the mole kills the innocent man. The other supposedly-moral agent escapes and gets labeled as a rogue agent. Later, two assassins and a team of three spy mavericks are sent to apprehend the supposedly-moral rogue agent. He manages to kill the two assassins and teams up with the team of mavericks to try to survive the clean-up effort that the highly-placed CIA handler unleashes against them --- which clean-up effort includes the disposal of: (a) the supposedly-moral rogue agent; (b) the mole agent that killed the innocent man; (c) the team of mavericks sent to capture the supposedly-moral rogue agent; and (d) even the helicopter full of assassin soldiers sent to kill and dispatch all of the above. When the clean-up appears to succeed, a story gets placed on the news blaming all the deaths on the assassinated innocent man. Typical immoral CIA tactics: cover-ups, lies on the news, assassinations --- all as corrupt immoral means towards corrupt and immoral ends. But the supposedly moral rogue agent and two of mavericks survive, and they start an operation against the highly-placed CIA handler. AND THEN THE MOVIE ENDS! Surely they did not mean to leave the story precisely in the middle of the story? Perhaps this movie was meant as some kind of pilot for an "exciting" series that was planned? But the movie --- understandably, since it is incomplete --- bombed. If there was a series in the plans, it was cancelled. The immorality displayed in this movie relies on a tactic that is widespread in modern society: compartmentalization of information and tasks. Thus, most people in the chain of evil can delude themselves into believing that they are good and moral people doing good and moral actions --- and may even be honest in their good intentions and beliefs; these people are tasked with isolated acts that in themselves may be moral, or at most morally questionable, but which when added together result in a coordinated chain that is meant to produce evil. Only a "mentally strong" minority in the chain of evil can be tasked with knowing the full implications of the chain --- which are supposed to be excusable "for a greater good" ---, and this only if absolutely necessary, lest anyone's conscience becomes awakened to their actions; this small minority is tasked with overseeing, directing, and controlling the "honest" believers.

Decent cast and a lot of action, it gets a little lost in the spy game cliches and double crosses. You don’t have a good focus on who to engage with, everyone is just doing spy stuff to each other and you have no clue who to root for and why any of it is happening. All reason and story aside the action is actiony and Mel Gibson is entertaining to watch him chew scenes and act all evil.

❤x7 Well, what do you know. A thriller that is actually pretty fresh. This one keeps you guessing right up to the end . . . and beyond. Just who is the last guy we see? Will we ever find out? Is a sequel planned? Will it get made? Only time will tell.
