I had to stop her ... at any cost ... that's why I pulled the trigger !
A popular singer, Marian Washburn, suddenly and unexplainably loses her voice, causing a shake-up at the club where she works. Her worried but loyal piano player, Luke Jordan, helps to promote a new, younger singer, Susan Caldwell, to temporarily replace Marian. Susan finds some early acclaim but decides to leave the club after a few performances. Soon after Susan quits, she is gunned down, and Marian quickly becomes a suspect.

Tonally a bit of an odd film. Set up like a crime mystery it soon starts to pivot to a more comedic feel. While this actually made it an enjoyable watch, it did kind of feel like switching to a different film entirely after the opening gambit. That said, while they were arguably responsible for much of this aforementioned lighter tone, Jay C Flippen and Mary Philips stole the show for me, as the policeman husband and interfering wife. I imagine the film's slightly incongruous tone will divide opinion but I found it an entertaining watch.
