It’s summer, the heat is overwhelming and the weather is out of whack. A group of friends are enjoying their yearly holiday in their favorite little village, wedged between the sea and the mountains. As usual, they are bored and eat and drink a lot. They do not pay attention to the fire which progresses on the mountain nearby, nor to the world around them. But this year, a mysterious man arrives from the sea and shakes up their seemingly balanced existence...

Like an orgy but only 1 person is invited. This film (based on a 1953 story by Marguerite Duras) is the story of a married woman who decides to betray her husband in front of him and a group of friends while in Italy for summer vacation. It's got aught's tech, 80's music, and 50's filters. What's worse is the series of Duras one-liners we're subjected to that felt even more cringe than they were in the book (e.g., "There is no vacation from love."). This movie wears 50s rétro fashion unironically, and it shows.
