This is a good adaptation, faithful to the book to a certain degree, I just felt it is a little hurried and skipped some important arcs and characters deepening of the original work, the movie could be longer. A highlight of this movie is the cinematography and the ambientation, the characters' costume and the dialect are great, you can believe that this is what Jorge Amado was thinking.
