He knows every scale.
When the Primm family moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle — a singing crocodile who loves baths, caviar and great music — living in the attic of his new home. But when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps, the Primms must band together to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places.

Seeing Scoot McNairy wrestling with a crocodile and Constance Wu eye fucking the Crocodile was not something I had on my bingo card for 2022, but hey, surprise? Whenever Lyle catches after people, it was terrifying.
Lyle (especially as a baby) is so cute. I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I'm a fan of Loretta the cat as well. Sadly all the human characters were kind of meh.
Not sure what to make of this one, I like some of what they fleshed out from the original story, for instance,
Valenti is not a _total_ villain here, and actually cares about Lyle on some level
. I found that a lot of the time the film falls flat on its face and can even be kind of hard to watch. Examples include
any time that cat emoted, as well as the "montage" or more appropriately, _fancam_ of moments from the movie itself during its emotional climax
. The animation was surprisingly endearing for a live-action remake so I'll give it that at least. On the whole, I'm just bummed about the missed potential, this could have been much, much better if it weren't for these very avoidable mistakes.
This was a great film. One of my favorite kids movies, I thought this movie had a great story and some of the most fun and catchy music ever heard in a kids movie. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul rarley get it wrong. Even for not being a fan of pop music and not knowing who Shawn Mendes was until seeing this movie, I thought he was a good choice for this voice role. I didn't have really high expectations for this movie when I first went in to it, but I thought this was a great movie with I highly recommend. It is really worth the watch.
I reviewed this film for the Hugo-winning blog Nerds of a Feather: www.nerds-feather.com/2022/11/lyle-lyle-crocodile-is-missed.html
