_Her Way_ / _Une Femme du Monde_ is about a mother's love that's like a broken-hearted missile: explosive, pure, and misguided. Writer / Director Cécile Ducrocq is brave enough to present a middle-aged, prostitute who doesn't have a heart of gold but who is full of shortcomings and tragically flawed. Ducrocq is then gifted enough to tell this woman's story with unsympathetic grace and lead actress Laure Calamy is talented enough to play her unapologetically. The unique combination of ingredients is mixed meticulously with poetry like nitro and glycerine in a snow globe.
[PÖFF] Mainly it's the portrait of a mother who is capable of sacrificing anything to get her son to cross the border of his social class. Prostitution as a profession of choice can be controversial, but it's above all a naturalistic view of the obstacles that arise in the face of a possible life destiny. Laure Calamy is again the perfect actress to show the weaknesses and pride of a woman who fights for her dignity.
