Behind the mystery lies a truth that will make you question everything you know.
The story of Michael Berg, a German lawyer who, as a teenager in the late 1950s, had an affair with an older woman, Hanna, who then disappeared only to resurface years later as one of the defendants in a war crimes trial stemming from her actions as a concentration camp guard late in the war. He alone realizes that Hanna is illiterate and may be concealing that fact at the expense of her freedom.

I was afraid i was going to find this movie as boring but no i was way wrong. It was a great film with nice plot and Winslet once again leveled up the movie in which she was the leader actress.7.5/10
AMAZING! So well played and written. So many emotions and definitely makes you think.
Hard to watch, but the performances are brilliant.
In the first hour I didn't realize it would go in a direction like that. First half was amazing to start any romantic film and the second part which was meant to be tragedic could have been any difficulties of society. But the writers made a bold choice by making film about a controversial topic. For me a controversial topic can ruin the purpose of a romantic movie. As a result the movie wasn't touching enough as a romance film. The message of the movie was so intense in the later part that the tragedic feeling was missing. The evergreen Kate Winslet performed as she always does. Although she could have been replaced for the older part.
Serious subject that from the weinstein company + arty nudity and good performances = awards? It's contrived from its inception. The movie wasn't that interesting in terms of telling the story. It was rather boring. I wasn't interested in the main relationship at all. They didn't seem a natural or romantic couple. After 40 minutes I realised Winslet was doing an accent.
