[New Yorker] There is a melancholy in this Christmas tale, in which a divorced father faces the joy of a family holiday. Denis is not the Santa Claus that his children expect, and his sadness becomes more evident in the middle of the Christmas Eve. It is a moving story, which shows us the lonely side of Christmas, captured through a warm but also suffocating cinematography, which recovers the aesthetics of the 80's.
