Filmmaker Helena de Llanos, who lives in the chaotic house, full of memories and treasures, where her grandfather, Fernando Fernán Gómez (1921-2007), legendary writer, actor and director; and his wife, the actress and writer Emma Cohen (1946-2016), shared their lives, analyzes the relationship that the living have with the dead through the places and objects they have left behind.

In "Morir cuerdo y vivir loco", Fernando Fernán-Gómez adapted the second part of Don Quixote with a personal point of view. Death, the one that came to him in 2007 and to his partner Emma Cohen in 2016, becomes the protagonist of the documentary that his granddaughter dedicates to him. Or rather the presence that remains despite the absence, among manuscripts and personal items that were left in an empty house. Helena de Llanos reflects on the vitality of memory, changes the context of the couple's recordings, constructs a fiction that is also documentary. A work that also awakens our memory, a look without melancholy at what was. "We are what we are because we were what we were."
