From an Iranian village to the Palais Garnier, from a hospital in Villejuif in the South of Algeria, voices are raised ... Four filmmakers, Julie Deliquet, Karim Moussaoui, Sergei Loznitsa and Jafar Panahi film songs of women and evoke in their own way, the world in which each of them lives.

If _Celles qui chantent_ was TV and you had the remote, the film wouldn't have made it to 75 minutes. 4 shorts that have women singing in them, but are mostly selfies made by documentary filmmakers. Only the first one (a kind of video clip of Maria Callas singing live at the Paris Palais Garnier opera house in front of Grace Kelly, Bridget Bardot, the Queen of England, French President Charles de Gaulle...) holds some interest. The rest of them (yes, even the one by Jafar Panahi) will make you wish you had the remote.
