[Mubi] It is a beautiful and sad film about exile and the survival of the working classes, the "farmers who were always sent to war." The Ughetto family is the representation of suffering, caused by wars, the Spanish flu epidemic, incurable diseases and poverty. But it is also the representation of resistance and effort. Introducing the narrator's hands into the stop-motion environment offers a moving look at solidarity and complicity in the face of adversity.
