Haseen Dillruba is a steamy romantic thriller which is of two drastically different halves. The first half gives you ample humor, romance, and good drama but the second half falls flat due to unconvincing and inadvertent writing. Despite sharp performances from Vikrant Massey and Tapsee, this dark and twisted tale of love leaves you miffed with a pointless climax. Still worthy of a watch. In terms of acting, music, and cinematography this movie is spot on. Excellent acting by Tapsee and Vikrant. Kudos to the music and camera department and actually all except for the story writing part. Like, WHAT!? That climax should have been in the dustbin. Cz it was so bad. (--_--) If I were in Rani and Rishu's shoes I would have cut Neel into pieces and then given him to the dogs. And bones? I would have burned them to ashes.╮( ˘ 、 ˘ )╭ Case solved, for the most part, that is. They had to close the case anyway. Also, no body no proof. And we are talking fiction here. At least a little realistic one on my end. This movie has fiction on a different level. (・・ ) ? It is worth the watch though, just for the acting and the beauty of the movie. Story? It's good, except for the ending. I liked that Rani and Rishu were together in the end.♡ ~('▽^人) Again, Tapsee and Vikrant are amazing actors. ヽ(♡‿♡)ノ They do such a good job in this movie that their acting redeems the somewhat bad script. Tapsee Pannu is a bad actress, it's apparent in this movie. I skipped most of the movie by fast forwarding, I literally don't regret it. Suboptimal story, cliched ending to do many other Bollywood movies. I skipped so much of the movie and I could still figure out the plot twist at the end of the movie, so cliched.
Haseen Dilruba is a decent watch, but you would need serious suspension of disbelief to digest the ending. A guy marries a girl out of his league. Unfortunately, they both know it just after the wedding day. A third person enters this unhappy marriage and things take a turn for the worse, and soon we enter a murder investigation. The trailer gives a lot of important details. It is a pretty straightforward plot is made enjoyable by Vikrant Massey's acting and beautiful camera work by Jayakrishna Gummadi. Vikrant's transition from an affectionate but timid guy next door to a psychotic cold-blooded person is masterful. He has quite a range and has a good sense to choose a variety of roles. I still remember him from Cargo or even from the small role of Dil Dhadakne Do. His 10 min short Detour is a good watch too. Taapsee Pannu's characters are usually quite strong. In Haseen Dilruba she portrays the inner turmoil well. She has an image of herself in her own mind and when the world around her does not affirms it, it is not very pleasant for her. Both these leads do a great job of carrying this story forward. Harshvardhan Rane tries to catch up with these two but falls short by a small margin. Amit Trivedi's music has some signature tunes. Especially, Mila Yun and Lakeeran have his trademark style and they have turned out quite well. Overall, this is worth watching for images of the fictitious town of Jwalapur and the acting of both the leads. Not worth going for the story, that department does not offer anything memorable.
Good performances and plot, let down by a
medically inaccurate and unrealistic climax/ending!
**6.5/10**
